Well not really going off, but 40 people came along on the weekend to talk about what is great about local bushland and how important it is to save it and enjoyed a BBQ.

We can all act to help save this bushland, there are so many things you can do-

Write to Tanya Plibersek, Federal Environment Minister and ask her to act to protect this land, the whole 38.8 hectares as it houses vulnerable flora and fauna. Email

Minister.Plibersek@dcceew.gov.au

Write to Penny Sharpe NSW Environment Minister and ask her to intervene to stop this destruction of high value bushland, ask her to request the Planning Minister intervene and demand a Environmental Impact Statement before this development can proceed. Contact via https://www.nsw.gov.au/nsw-government/ministers/minister-environment-heritage or call

(02) 7225 6020

Write to your local state (Jodie Harrison or Greg Piper) or federal member (Pat Conroy) and ask them to get involved, to act to protect the Myall Road Bushland so that the powerful owl, the feather glider, the little bent wing bat and others have a safe place to remain in this bushland. Ask them not to let you and the environment down!

Don't know what to say? Read our Management Plan on our home page and ask whomever you are writing to, to adopt the 22 recommendations of SMRBI Alternative Management Plan for this high value bushland. Highlight that supporting this planned destruction by Landcom of this bushland is a disaster for locals and for the environment and we must do better.

While you're at it, let Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser know your opinion, Lake Macquarie Council have let us down in supporting this destruction by Landcom and the Mayor needs to act to get a better outcome for the community instead of sitting on her hands! Here is how to contact her

Lake Macquarie City Council, Box 1906, Hunter Regional Mail Centre NSW 2310

About Our Group

We are a group of very concerned and angry local people. We are concerned about the impact Development has on the wildlife and wellbeing of our community. We are very concerned about the destruction of Habitat and continued loss of Biodiversity in our area. We also understand that natural areas are very important to our health and wellbeing.

We believe the development will have significant impact on the local traffic and with more planning and consideration we believe the same benefits without the impacts can be obtained on other sights in the area.

We are also concerned that the accumulative effect on our environment is enhanced as we are about to see the destruction of bush through Jesmond and into Rankin Park for what will be a highly valued road for the community, it just places more pressure on all of us to try and retain as much bush as we can to provide those refuges for our fauna and flora.
